Solid Intuition

with one comment

Sarah… has anyone checked into that little church destroyed by the twin tower falling debre… and why it’s having so much trouble getting rebuilt in NYC? Could there have been some kinda back-room conversation/deal in which the aman (spelling?) promised no more attacks or something if they were allowed to build their mosque… provided the church not be allowed (I believe it was Protestant)? Sorry, my intuition is kicking into high gear on this one… and it’s generally RIGHT. Someone needs to investigate! (source)

Founding Faith-ers

leave a comment »

RE: mosque. I thing Obama really wants that mosque where the Islamic people plan on building it. He seems very much in tune with Islam…more than with the Christian faith. While overseas he said that America was not a Christian Nation. And he apologizes for our country. Never, never expected to have a president that hated this country. We need all of the Founders of this country to help us. Or at least follow their writings. (source)

A quote from John Adams, one of the aforementioned Founding Fathers:

As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen, and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries. (source)

“Faithers” is now my term for people that insist that our Founding Fathers sought to turn Christianity into a system of government, despite a not-insignificant amount of evidence to the contrary. It seems clear that Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Franklin were not using their faith in Jesus’ divinity as a playbook when they crafted this country. The treaty quoted above was ratified by a unanimous (!) vote of the Senate. “Under God” was added to the Pledge of Allegiance starting in 1948, signed into law by Eisenhower in 1954. Christianity certainly enjoys a favored status in our government (and has since its inception) but to say that we were founded by Christian men as a Christian nation does not compute.

So yes, I hope we do continue to follow the writing of our Founders and the intellectual giants that came after them. I would like to continue to be able to freely be a Christian, and the only way that such freedom is sustainable is if everyone else enjoys that same freedom of their religion, unencumbered by an established national religion. That is, after all, what the Founding Fathers wanted in the first place.

Faithers, you’re shooting yourselves in the foot.

A 7-Part Plan

leave a comment »

Why does Barak want to start a world war with Muslims? First he rebuilds the Mosq for the Muslims, 2nd the nice Muslims celebrate their new mosq, 3rd Muslim Terrorist groups & Al Qaeda release news video of them celebrating their victory over the great Satan as a precious (also to the terrorists) new Mosq is built on the very land that they cleared with their terrorism. Not only did they murder thousands, but now they have a Mosq to honor their part in clearing the land for a new Mosq. 4th New York erupts into riots, then the whole nation, 5th from incredible anger of their so-called president Barak Obama siding with the terrorists over the American people that he took an oath to protect, someone bombs the new Mosq. 6th Now the entire Muslim world declares holy war on New York & the USA. 7th America falls into World War 3 against 2 billion Muslims….. Great plan Barak!! Why doesn’t Obama just surrender to Osama, it would be a lot less bloody. (source)

Mainly Muslim

leave a comment »

Nearly all of the talk from the Palindrones these days is about how horrible the “Ground Zero Mosque” (sigh) is. I could not possibly write more eloquently than Slacktivist has done about why this opposition is so wrong-headed and intellectually dishonest. So instead, I’m just going to post a bunch of the insanity that continues to pollute the internet on Palin’s Facebook page.

As an Englishman I can totally understand all your frustrations your experiencing with regards to the mosque being built near the twin towers site. My question is this : as most of the western world is predominantly Christian/catholic, would we be able to build churches in Muslim countries?? I think not…… Anyone else agree??? (source)

This argument is, of course, idiotic. We aren’t talking about building churches in other countries. What other countries do is irrelevant to the matter at hand.

Building a mosque near ground zero is Islamists claiming territory both physically and (more importantly) spiritually. This should be stopped now for more than just being sensitive to the families who list loved ones there.

Some might even go as far as to say this is to the planners also a “memorial” of triumph for the American Muslims who lost their lives for the cause of Jihad. Surely they would not allow a Jewish temple to be built near one of their sacred sites. (source)

Of course, that doesn’t stop people from making the argument.

Say what you may, but after 65 years, the Japanese have not asked to build a Temple at Pearl Harbor. (source)

And somehow people find a way to make that particular line of reasoning even more nonsensical. Also, you do realize, dear Palin poster, that Japanese are the second largest ethnic group in Hawaii, right? I wager there is some sort of religious building somewhere on Oahu that is attended primarily by Japanese folks. Get those protest signs ready.

Sadly, as of today the President has answered the Ground Zero Mosque question & no surprise, he’s in favor of it. Strictly speaking, they have a Constitutional right to build there, but they must realize it is an incredibly insensitive thing for a group that wants to ‘build bridges’ to do. (source)

Strictly speaking, they do. And that’s the end of the story. There is nothing more that needs to be said. It’s legal, it’s protected by our constitution, and it has passed all of the necessary local zoning and permit hurdles. End of story.

Gov. Palin, thank you so much for speaking out against a mosque at Ground Zero. I have no idea what the supporters of this are thinking. It’s an absolute disgrace. Unfortunately, too few in the public eye refuse to speak out against this for fear of being branded a racist. But you’ve never been afraid to speak your mind when you are standing up for what is right. Which is one of the many reasons I admire you so much. (source)

s/right/popular today/. FTFY.

It seems tha MEN are to naive, or intinamated to enter into the Muslim Mosque debacle. you are apparantly are not. This is not a Religious ?. Muslems as a whole are peaceful. The ? is do we allow Terroists to scare us enough to allow a Mosque that close to ground Zero to be built out of fear. It is now sacred ground and should not be used for anything other than a tribute to the 1000′s that died there. Please stand your ground and don’t back down. This comes from a registered DEMOCRATE (source)

So we shouldn’t allow terrorists to scare us into… building a mosque? The way to show that we are not frightened is to protest building a religious center by following the scaremongering of one incredible bigot?

Well, we must respect America’s “freedom of religion” to shine and let the Mosque get built where they want – - – - We also know that in America we have the rights to capitalism, like setting up barbeque joints all around the Mosque with huge pictures of pigs and all the wonderful smells that go with it. I love America. (source)

I’ve never been more proud to be an American.

Mosque Round-Up

leave a comment »

We’ve already seen a lot of depressing bigotry related to the proposed community center in New York. What the hell, why not some more, right?

Today a moslem building on ground zero, tomorrow the same thing where the white house now stands. Can’t America see what is happening? GO SARAH MAKE US PROUD TO BE AMERICANS (source)

I have to imagine it will take at least a year to bulldoze the White House and build a trophy mosque there, yeah? So maybe “tomorrow” in the figurative sense.

Sarah Palin…YOU ROCK!!! You were right on to ask that the muslims kindly withdrawal their request for a mosque on the site in NYC of 9/11 and Mayor Bloomberg is dead wrong. We know that the majority of muslims in this country are peaceful and are not fundamentalists. Does Bloomberg not realize that this particular piece of real estate belongs to ALL Americans as the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol and every government building, park and/or memorial, much less our military graveyards, do. And, does he forget how many Americans travelled far and wide to that site to help him rescue people and clean up that mess! Shame on you Mr. Bloomberg! (source)

Yes indeed, real estate in New York belongs to all (Christian) Americans.

Dear Sarah…recently you send a message to the so called “Peaceful mulsim” regarding the proposed mosque in ground zero. Well I like you very much and I will vote for you if you run for PRESIDENT OF THE USA, but, please there is nu such thing as a “Peaceful muslim, that is an Oxymorn. Is like sending a message to all non-racist KKK Members. muslim by nature are evil. The quran says in sura 9:5 “Kill the infidel, kill them, wherever you see them kill them.” And who are the infidels..? All Jews, all Americans all non muslims..!! We dont fight these evil people shaking their hands….like obama is doing in Afghanistant….. (source)

I had to wipe off the flecks of mouth-froth from that one before I could copy/paste it to post it.

I don’t respect no muslin nation build your mosque in the desert or go to iran and build it not at ground zero r yall nuts what’s wrong with this country put jesus back in oh he’s coming back to take his children home r u ready allah is dead (source)

Yee-haw.

Now is as good a time as any to link to an excellent article by Fareed Zakaria on what bigotry is, and why he returned a prize from the Anti-Defamation League. You may remember that Fareed Zakaria is a secret Muslim hell-bent on replacing America with something foreign. Scary stuff, folks.

Chock Full ‘O Terrorists

leave a comment »

Due to our generous open society the proposed mosque n NYC will probably contain hundreds of terrorists. The bad thing about this situation is that they have protection inside that Mosque to do virtually anything they want under the cloak of religous freedom. Can we as Americans not be creative enough to build a Christian religous center right next door? I think this would be ok since these very Muslims claim they are open to oher religions and their beliefs. (source)

Freedom Of Religion*

with one comment

Sarah, I ask this in response to your last note, because you’re a Christian –

Where do we get the idea that we should be religiously tolerant… particularly to a religion that wars against Christianity and the US? America was founded as a Christian nation, and should be tolerant of all Christian denominations, certainly. But to suggest that complete religious tolerance was a foundation of our republic is absurd. Our founders were so rooted in their Christianity they would have never allowed a mosque to be built in New York City at all because Islam denies the existence of God and is actually antagonistic to those who deny Allah and proclaim the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. (source)

So look. I’m not a constitutional scholar. I do know that the very first amendment in the Bill of Rights says:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. (source)

So how is it, then, that Christianity is the official religion of our country, and that we should be tolerant only of other Christians? What bizarre reading of the document yields that conclusion?

And speaking of our founders and tolerance, I do know that at least one of our founders really did not want us to merely “tolerate” other religions. No, I’m not talking about Thomas Jefferson.

Marking Their Territory

leave a comment »

i read somewhere that Moslems, when building mosques in foriegn countries, prefer to find sites where they can build on top of Sacred or hallowed ground of other religions, former church sites for example. Just as an animal would mark their territory, so to speak. If that is true, isn’t that what they attempting to do with the Ground Zero site? (source)

Someone with authority does monitor Palin’s Facebook page, as there are obvious trolls and negative nellies that post, but then are deleted in short order. That’s fine, since this is her page and she can decide who gets to talk and who doesn’t. I’d probably do the same.

But that puts her in a conundrum: since there is some oversight, the stuff that remains at least passed muster to the person or persons monitoring the site. If Palin truly committed to ensuring that the Tea Party is not associated with racism and bigotry, is it really a good idea to let posts remain that compare “Moslems” to animals marking their territory?

In other words, sometimes finding content for this site is just depressing.
